Gospel musician EFua Black who is based in Takoradi has donated items and cash to inmates of Sekondi Female prisons. The items donated include; Gari, Maize, Sugar, Salt, Oil, Rice, Bags of water, Soap, Sanitary Pads, Toilet Roll, Drinks, Kenkey and others.
Explaining the need for the initiative, Efua Black said the responsibility of ensuring the comfort of inmates does not only rest on the shoulders of the government hence her donation.
“This is not a one-time thing, it is a continuous initiative which started last year after the Holy Ghost Concert, to bring relief and support to the Inmates from what we gathered after the program.”
Efua BLACK with her team worshipped with the inmates and also had some sessions of prayer with them.
The officer in Charge, ASP Anita Dakpare stated, “for the love that you have shown us here on this day, we are grateful, and the inmates would like to say a very big thank you. We pray that this donation will go a long way to solving and addressing some of the pressing issues in here at the prison.”
Despite the numerous obstacles, including issues with feeding, ASP Anita Dakpare remained optimistic and hopeful that continued support from benevolent groups and government will improve the lives of the inmates.
Some of the inmates shared their stories with Efua Black and her team to send a word of advice to people outside about false alarms, peer groups and also controlling anger.
The inmates also thanked Efua BLACK and prayed with her for ministry growth.
Efua Black was accompanied by some other gospel musicians, Yvonne Menz, Lady Joy and others.
