The i-VickyMends Foundation, on 10th February 2024 marked its fifth-year anniversary celebration which feted hundreds of widows within the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolis. About two hundred Widows/Widowers and the aged from six (6) communities were treated to good food, drinks, and music to mark the Valentine’s Day celebration.

The foundation feast was to remind the widows/widowers that they’re loved regardless of their spouses not being with them. And this has been the mandate of the foundation since its inception in 2019.

Rev. Canon Emmanuel Joseph Wryter of St. Andrew’s Anglican Cathedral Church led a special prayer for them and advised them not to drift from God due to their situation because in all things we give thanks to the Almighty God.

Rev. Mrs. Bertha Anibea Gyamfi of the Liberty Church – Takoradi, oh her part advised that, they shouldn’t mount their hopes on any family member because not all will extend a helping hand during this down moment but rather build their hope on God for an intervention.

Giving them words of encouragement, Lawyer Edmund Acquah-Arhin, Assistant Registrar – St. Andrews Anglican Cathedral Church told them, not to be dismayed because being a widow does not make you world crumple. “I applaud widows/widowers for the courage to live alone and how to navigate through life because it is not easy to lose a loved one and be this courageous” – Lawyer Acquah-Arhin added.

“All may despise you, but God will never leave your side and so I encourage you not to lose yourself but rather keep your head because God is on your side” – Rev. Kofi Ababio, Head Pastor – Seekers Chapel, Takoradi.

Founder of I-Vicky Mends Foundation Victoria Nana Amoh Mends in her address explained, this has become a mandate and cannot be stopped. “Every time the date is approaching, it gives me chills and sleepless nights because when God puts something on your heart, you can’t stop until you have fulfilled it and so I do this with all excitement and fulfillment. Caring for widows every valentine is not just a mandate but also to give them hope that they’re being cared for.” She said

This 5 years anniversary celebration saw song ministration by Minister Kwesi Saint, Minstrel Lady, Minister J.D, Minister EL Manuel and the St. Andrews Anglican Cathedral Church. Nana Care Health Solutions organized free health screening for the participants and urged them to go for consistent check ups and take their medications regularly.
