In 2023, during the annual BETHESDA program hosted by Eastwood Anaba Ministries, a poignant moment captured the heart of the congregation. Among the attendees was Mma Alanongo, a woman whose name translates to “I’ve laughed at poverty.” But on that day, her frail appearance and worn-out socks—her only form of footwear—spoke of struggles far deeper than her name suggested.
Pastor Eastwood, moved by her condition, sent a team to investigate her living situation. What they found was a mud house, barely fit for habitation, a reflection of the hardship she had endured.
In response, the ministry built her a fully furnished bedroom, offering her not just shelter but dignity. Along with the new room, food supplies and a cash gift were provided to ensure her immediate well-being.
Today, Mma Alanongo smiles, her burdens lightened by the compassion of those who saw her plight. She now knows she is not only seen but heard and loved, a living testament to the transformative power of community and faith.
