Gospel musician, Esther Smith has shared an emotional yet inspiring story about her birth.
Speaking in an interview on Accra FM with Nana Romeo, the gospel singer narrated how her mother nearly aborted her because she was still a student when she got pregnant with her.
According to Esther Smith, her grandmother’s sister met her mother on her way to abort the pregnancy and sounded the alarm which eventually caused her father to stop her mother.
“My mother was a school girl when she was pregnant with me. She was going to abort me at Komfo Anokye because she was scared of her father because she was the only child.
“So, on her way, she met her mother’s sister who asked her where she was going. The woman followed her until she confessed her intentions to her. My father did not also like the idea of giving birth. So the woman reported to my father that my mother was going to abort me and she was stopped.
“She confessed that she had taken a lot of drugs to help with the abortion but none of them worked,” she narrated on Thursday, August 29.
The singer disclosed this while she was opening up about her singing talent, noting that singing is an innate talent from birth.
Esther Smith said after that incident a pastor met her mother and told her she [Esther Smith] was going to become a prominent personality in Ghana.
“My mother said she met a pastor who told her that the baby she is carrying would grow to become useful to Ghana. So, when God started lifting me, she told me about the story,” she added.
